I always feel awkward driving up to someone’s Barn, whether there is someone around or not. This time, I parked on the grass by the lane leading up to the Barn and waved at someone (who turned out to be Kevin) who was working just up the way near his truck.

No need to feel awkward, it turns out. “People stop to see the Barn nearly every month,” he tells me.

It’s a working Barn, storing hay for the off season and farm equipment, too. And I’m told that they’ve received some quotes to have it fixed up and any missing boards replaced. I don’t know if that will include having the logo repainted, but I certainly hope so.

Still owned by the DeWine family, it used to be part of a larger complex of barns at this site, but now it sits alone.

We stood and watched some soybeans being harvested for a while, in companionable silence, before I let him get back to his duties.

If you’re heading south from here (to perhaps visit the Clinton County Barn), be sure to look in your rear-view mirror at this marvelous Barn.

Where to view and visit: 3630 US Route 42, east of Centerville (39.76253° N, 83.79014° W)
There’s a second entrance at 2990 Fishworm Road
